Under 65 Plans

WHAT IS THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT?

ObamaCare (the Affordable Care Act) is a US healthcare reform law that expands access to care through regulations and taxes.

The Affordable Care Act’s main purpose is to provide more Americans with access to health insurance,  regulating the health insurance industry, but it is based on income and lack of employer-offered health insurance or employer health plan is more than 9.69% of your adjusted household income to receive a subsidy. The law contains hundreds of different provisions and healthcare plans must have the 10 essential benefits mandated by the healthcare reform law.  The 10 Essential Benefits are:

1.    Ambulatory patient services (Outpatient care
2.    Emergency Services (Trips to the emergency room).
3.    Hospitalization (Treatment in the hospital for inpatient care).
4.    Maternity and newborn care.
5.    Mental health services and addiction treatment
6.    Prescription drugs.
7.    Rehabilitative services and devices
8.    Laboratory services.
9.    Preventiveservices, wellness services, and chronic disease treatment.
10.  Pediatric services.

The ACA plans have put everyone in a “high-risk” pool, thus driving monthly premium too expensive rates.

*If you can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it, you must pay a fee called the individual shared responsibility payment. (The fee is sometimes called the "penalty," "fine," or "individual mandate.") It will be 2 1/2 percent of your income.

ALTERNATIVES TO ACA PLANS
NON-OBAMA CARE INSURANCE HEALTH PLANS

A great alternative to an ACA insurance plan is a Short Term Care insurance can be a smart and inexpensive solution for those in between coverage options, those traveling. It does not have the 10 Essential Benefits of the ACA plans (i.e. Maternity, child vision and dental to name a few) so coverage is affordable. Many people have chosen to get short-term care to protect themselves from possible medical bill devastation and pay the penalty, but will STILL have better coverage and lower monthly premium AND more choices of providers. You will have coverage of up to a million dollars in case of an illness or accident. The average days of coverage vary from state to state - 360 to 364 days is the average.

MEC- MINIMAL COVERAGE FOR SELF EMPLOYED/1099 CONTRACTOR
The Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) detailed in this guide is a self-insured health and welfare benefit plan for employers with at least one employee that gives access to important medical screenings, vaccines, counseling and more to help participants stay healthy. The MEC offered is penalty proof protecting you from taxation under the Individual Mandate of the Affordable Care Act. Only $68.50 for one member. Call for pricing on all other coverage/family plan.

ANCILLARY PLANS ARE A GREAT ALTERNATIVE

We need to get creative due the complications of the ACA Health Reform Act, CRITICAL ILLNESS & ACCIDENT PLANS is a wonderful alternative to protect us. The one reason for bankruptcy is medical bills. The two reasons why people go to the hospital is for an accident or illness. With a critical & accident ancillary plans which are very affordable, the insurance will give you a lump sum of cash to cover all your bills.

HEALTHCARE SHARING MINISTRY PLANS

These plans tend to be cheaper, and participants share medical expenses for the common good. While you could sign up using the federal Health Insurance Marketplace, an alternative option exists for people who cannot afford new plans – or object to buying one for religious reasons. These alternative plans, offered by health care sharing ministries, are not represented as traditional insurance, but as ministries that allow people to share their health expenses for the common good. NO PENALTY from the government if you have a health care sharing plan. It does not cover pre-existing conditions for the first year.

“A health care sharing ministry (HCSM) provides a health care cost sharing (not insurance) arrangement among persons of similar and sincerely held beliefs,” the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries states on its website. “HCSMs are not-for-profit religious organizations acting as a clearinghouse for those who have medical expenses and those who desire to share the burden of those medical expenses.” HCSM are in all 50 states.
